Silver Lake Soccer Academy donated $5,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation on April 27, 2021. The youth soccer club based on Staten Island completed a fundraiser this past Fall in which players raised funds to donate to the continued research for a treatment and a cure of breast cancer. The donation was made following our tryouts sessions being held for the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 seasons.
SLSA President Chris Vega—“Silver Lake Soccer Academy is proud of our players and parents for raising funds and awareness about a cause that hits very close to home for many. My wife Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2019 after a self-evaluation found a lump in her breast. Her diagnosis was positive due to the research that led to advancements in treatment over the past 20 years. It has allowed my wife and family to return to our normal routines after she bravely endured chemotherapy followed by several surgeries. We are happy to report that she has resumed her career as an elementary school teacher and SOCCER MOM! We know that there are others out there fighting the disease and wanted to do our part to raise awareness and support the continued research for a cure.”
Silver Lake Soccer Academy is proud to be a supporter of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer. They provide critical funding for cancer research worldwide to fuel advances in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, metastasis and survivorship.
